Numerical Simulation of Free Motion of Supercavitating Projectile with Tail Jet

Abstract In this paper, the flow field and trajectory of supercavitating projectile are calculated. Based on Fluent software, axisymmetric calculation model is established, numerical simulation method underwater high-speed established. Firstly, cavitation shape in velocity range 90m/s~190m/s carried out, which compared with classical formula to verify effectiveness method. Then, water initial 80m/s-130m/s out. The results show that when engine not ignited 90m/s, shows a “head up” navigation trend, no complete supercavitation formed at time. 100m/s-130m/s, overall motion “bow” completely wrapped by cavitation, does collide wall. After generates thrust, maximum can reach 70m under action thrust.
